Surprising you with something new
Over four decades, Linda has championed brands Comme des Garcons, Junya Watanabe, Yohji Yamamoto, Jil Sander and Vetements. Linda’s eye and influence has changed the way we see fashion not just in Detroit, but around the world. Her New York store, which occupied Park Avenue for 25 years (closed in 2008), is still talked about in low-tones, amongst global fashion-fanatics, wishing it back into existence. But here in Detroit, we don’t have to wish. We don’t have to speak in whispers. We can walk around the corner, and experience a masterpiece, not found in any other corner of the world.
Fall Winter 2018 Style Notes
There is a nod to a change in proportion. Going long is looking right. Ankle length pleated skirts in burnished metal colors worn under long, loose sweater dresses. Easy shaped wool dresses in navy or black have a welcome new proportion. Long tulle overdresses worn over dark jeans are another component that can carry into evening.
Unexpected mash-ups of patterns and colors are this season’s punctuation mark. Visual mixology. Floral motif sweaters in unexpected color combinations like camel and cerulean blue or bright yellow and black are worn with English tweeds and checks. Mannish tailored blazers and trench coats are given a feminine twist with exaggerated draped sleeve details.
When the cold finally arrives, long cocoon coats in soft camel or long down puffer coats are the go to outerwear pieces. Practical and au courant.
Fanny packs move on to the more polished leather belt bag this fall. The hiking boot in white, dark brown or rust with bright colored laces are the new must have shoe. Take the unexpected path and wear them with a different color lace on each boot.
Rosy lips and cheeks with darkened eyelids create a mysterious, seductive glamour. Natural… not over done.
This fall, a softer romanticism is emerging… feminine and simple. It’s fluid in movement, veiled and not aggressive.
Spring Summer 2018 Style Notes
It’s all about jeans-but, not as we have known them. Details are the bi-word…side zipped or intricate
patchwork in dark blue and washed black and even white…worn for evening under pretty dresses, with
sandals (flat or heels).
Speaking of dresses, easy shapes that DON’T hug the body in small or big dots and even bigger dots,
animated prints that are brave with a touch of strong color, red, blue and yellow. Dresses that are fluid
and quietly dramatic, a midi looks important and feels important. Under these dresses, jeans are chic and
Smart, gently relaxed blazers, bombers, safari jackets all work over this look. Bags can be smaller in
round cosmetic cases, or oversized soft pouches tucked under your arm like a pillow or an envelope, in
strong colors, foil or smooth leathers in chic tan… à la the iconic Hermès.
The point is…relax and enjoy the moment…you own the magic.
